Let's get to know each other!
My beliefs about birth:
Every person is different, every birth is different, and what we need to feel secure, safe, and empowered is different and individual. I firmly believe that an ideal birth is one where you feel empowered, respected, and proud of your hard work.
As your doula, I am committed to providing you the evidence-based information, individualized support, and resources you need to feel empowered during your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
A little about me (as a doula, and in general):
I am a DONA trained birth doula, and am in the midst of becoming certified as a birth and bereavement doula through Stillbirthday. I support all types of families in all types of births. I am passionate about pelvic floor health and informed consent. With personal and specialized knowledge in trauma, vaginismus, and gestational diabetes, my passion is helping people feel both powerful and empowered during their birth and postpartum.
I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two fiery toddlers. I vehemently disagree with anyone who thinks peppers go in spaghetti sauce. N*SYNC over Backstreet Boys any day.
How did I become a doula?
The first time I served as a friend's doula, I didn't even know what a doula was. When she hired a professional doula for her second birth, during a prenatal meeting I got teased to "be careful-- attending births 'as a friend' is how people become doulas!" I was insistent that it wasn't in the cards for me, but she was right. And I couldn't be happier.
